About David Hancox
A Lifetime in the Landscape
David Hancox has spent more than four decades in the landscape industry — a journey that began in 1980 mowing lawns in Natick, Massachusetts, and steadily evolving into a distinguished career in landscape architecture and design-build leadership.
In addition to his embracing excellent customer service, those early years in the field shaped David’s understanding of landscapes not just as drawings on paper, but as living environments that require stewardship, craftsmanship, and long-term vision. Even today, on his days off, you can find him tending to the gardens at his home. That hands-on foundation continues to influence every project at Landscape Oasis today.
Education & Professional Foundation
In 1990, David earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at University of Massachusetts Amherst. His education formalized what experience had already begun to teach him — that exceptional landscapes are born from thoughtful design, technical precision, and a deep respect for the natural environment.
David has remained closely connected to the department since graduation. He serves on the Alumni Board, mentors emerging landscape architects, and regularly returns to Amherst to help where he can with studio critiques or as a guest lecturer. His continued involvement reflects a belief that the profession thrives when knowledge, experience, and opportunity are shared across generations.
